on sitting

I use to think that i led a fairly active life style. but recently it has been brought to my attention how very much of my time is spent sitting. please see below.

tuesday's sit/stand log:
10:30 pm (monday) Lay down
6:30 am (tuesday) Stand up
7:00 am Sit down
7:45 am Stand up
8:00 am Sit down
9:00 am Stand up
9:02 am Sit down
10:29 am Stand up
10:30 am Sit down
11:45 am Stand up
12:00 pm Sit down
1:15 pm Stand up
1:30 pm Sit down
2:45 pm Stand up
3:15 pm Sit down
4:05 pm Stand up
4:08 pm Sit down
4:30 pm Stand up
total stand time: 1 hour 51 minutes total sit time: 16 hours
...you get the idea. anyway. i've been doing my darndest to stay standing lately and it has made a world of difference: i am more helpful ["hey kaity, while you're up, could you...."]. i am a better multitasker [plan clinic AND stand, check email AND stand, eat dinner AND stand]. there are ample opportunities for me to do the twist, or what have you. i have something to blog about.

a domestic victory

I'm not completely undomesticated, but with school and everything- mostly i just eat cans of corn and/or green beans... so this was a step up from the norm. i think the presidents would be proud that i spent their whole day in the kitchen. i only wish they could have enjoyed this simple treat with me. no really. if that had happened this blog post would be way more interesting... and more creepy- but mostly interesting.

did you know...

...that the netherlands band donald duck because he doesn't wear pants?
...that there are 1,200 people that live in antarctica!

you are looking at the oregon scientific smart globe- the latest in juvenile education. a modern day geo-safari, the smart globe is the answer to all of your problems. no really though, this is the coolest thing. my nephews got one a few months ago and my nieces just got one for christmas... but i don't think anyone has spent more time exploring this amazing world, via smart globe, as i have. here are a few of my favorite features-
the smart pen- touch any where on the globe, listen and learn.
update capabilities- you can plug the smart globe into your computer and download the most recent political, social and geographical changes.
challenges- this is so fun. the smart globe gives you a certain amount of time and some dramatic music as it asks you to locate various countries. until recently my 15 year old nephew held the family record (96 countries found) but after a few weeks of intense training i was able to sneak by with 104 countries. it's a constant battle.
languages, national anthems, interesting facts, history, government... the smart globe knows it all.
thanks smart globe... thmart globe.
