just some things

sorry i haven't blogged in a long time... here is a little update.

fall was looking really great a few weeks ago. then we got a bunch of snow and things have been a little dreary since all the leaves left. but i am really liking the cold weather, which is REALLY strange for me. so that is good news.

i went to boise a while ago with eric and adam. they showed me a good old fashioned idaho time and i got to meet the fam. we made pumpkin cookies and had some good times. this is my foot when it was in boise.

i really haven't been up to much lately, besides working on the thesis. that means that i have spent A LOT of time at the library (not this library- because it is in boise, and i am not).

i still like peas. even fuzzy close up peas... especially fuzzy close up peas.

and these are all of my fellow grad students! after over a year we finally managed to take a class picture. we are all so sad that this is our last semester together. but SO glad that this thing called grad school is coming to a close.

welp, that is about all that has been happening. hopefully things will get more exciting once school calms down. but for now, here is a list of things i am excited about:

1. mom and kendra + nephews are coming tomorrow
2. michael and dad are coming up to logan next week
3. there are only two days of school next week
4. my thesis is getting close to being done
5. i get a whole month off of school soon
6. the NEPHEWS are coming

this was the big story on the Utah State home page today. doesn't it kind of sound like some other team won?
but despite this linguistic ambiguity, we DID win.

Best Mom Awards. Com

So my sister-in-law, Amber, came up with this super cute idea... it's a way for everyone who has a mom to tell that mom that she is super great.
bestmomawards.com
There are a bunch of different certificates that you can print out and give to a mom that you admire. you can also make up your own award and send it to them to be added to the website.
check it out, it's super fun.

scriptures v. frozen yogurt

'Spoon Me' is a delightful place to go if you are in the mood for a healthy frozen yogurt treat (which mood I am always in). However, recently their slogan has been giving me some grief...

When we contrast these findings with John 14:15 we discover a striking contradiction.
"If ye love me, keep my commandments"
well heck man, which is it?

so, what do you study?

When I tell people that I study speech language pathology- the general response is something like "oh- that's awesome... what does that mean?" well the other day in one of my classes, i finally learned the technical definition of speech langauge pathology. This comes from the offical state licensing board... and is, please note, once sentence:
Speech language pathology is: "the appication of priniciples, methods, and procedures for the examination, measurement, prevention, testing, identification, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, instruction, modification, prescription, restoration, counseling, habilitation, predition, management, and research related to the development and the disorders or disabilities of human communication, speech, voice, language, cognitive communication, or oral, pharyngeal, or laryngeal sensorimotor competencies, for the purpose of identifying, evaluating, diagnosing, prescribing, prevention, managing, correcting, ameliorating, or modifying those disorders and their effects in individuals or groups of individuals."
so now we know. and knowing is half the battle.

i have had a birthday

on tuesday turned 23. it was good. I really appreciate all of the birthday wishes and surprises everyone had to offer...
my family in providence threw me a pretty legitimate birthday party... there were hats, blowers, decorated trees, presents, a six foot inflatable birthday cake, and a non inflatable real apple pie with candles and ice cream. pues, all necessary ingredients for a birthday party were accounted for. it was real cute.
some other highlights include hearing from my precious and tiny nephews who assured me that on my next birthday I would be 44 (uhhh, carson- check your math k?) but also that I looked really pretty- so that was kind.
oh and not to mention my dear dear roommates and friends who got me a long sought after eblskiver pan and carly who made me a delicious strawberry cake (from SCRATCH...what a lady).

thanks er'y body!

outside

last weekend me and the logan fam went camping! it was SO fun. Being away for so long makes me appreciate people and placed a lot more. I've ALWAYS really loved my brother and his family and I have been so grateful that they are here in cache valley with me- but now I REALLY really REALLY like them... (other family- don't be mad. I really really really like you too and i miss you just as much).
So, camping was really fun.

this is snowy showing us humans how to lick your nose with your tongue (a task which few homonids are capable of).

here are some trees and some light. photo cred goes to amber, sister-in-law extraordinare.

er'y body in the boat.

I just thought this little family picture of everyone in the middle of the woods hovered around the camera looking at the digitally captured scenery... was kind of cute.

me and my crocheted football helmet-esque beanie and my not so crocheted nephew.

The original dragonfly hair clips... yup. those are real.

Slacklining in the forest. the nephews did really good for their first time. I was really impressed.

this is me "pretending" to fall off this log... you know, if there is one thing i have learned from young children- it is that the line between pretend and real is imaginary. pretend is real. which translates into- I was really falling off this log.
